In the 183,000 acre Crater Lake National Park, the Union Peak Trail is a 12 mile round trip hiking trek to a vista of the crater rim passing through groves of hemlocks and red fir. The deep blue Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the US. It was formed from the eruption and collapse of Mount Mazama 7,000 years ago. It is surrounded by a 20 mile rim of cliffs fringed with hemlocks and fir.

Overall, Union Peak Trail is the 11th most popular hiking trail of all 21 hikes in Oregon.
