Hiking The Black Warrior / Owl Creek Trail

The 7th most popular hiking trail in Alabama.

North of Addison near Brushy Lake in the Bankhead National Forest, the Black Warrior - Owl Creek Trail System has about 30 miles of hiking trails from easy to moderate which can form great loops. The trails are marked regularly with colored metal diamonds.

To reach the Owl Creek trailhead from Grayson, head north on FS245, turn north (left) onto FS262 and look for the Owl Creek Horse Camp approximately 5.5 miles on #262.

To reach the Owl Creek trailhead from Danville, head south on SR41. At the top of hill at the Cave Spring Cemetery, turn right on FS249. Follow this road for about 8 miles, stay left at the FS 249 and FS 265 intersection, there will be a tree in this intersection. Turn left on FS 262 the horse camp is about 2 miles on the left.

Overall, Black Warrior / Owl Creek Trail is the 7th most popular hiking trail of all 15 hikes in Alabama.
