Hiking The Lakes Trail / Pear Lake Trail

East of Fresno in the Sequoia National Park, the Pear Lake Trail is a challenging 12 mile hike to Pear Lake over the Hump at 9,400 feet through towering orange Sequoia trunks. The turn around point is at the Pear Lake Hut in the glacial basin containing several lakes.

To reach the trailhead from Fresno, head east on SR180. Past Squaw Valley, the name changes to SR198. About 20 miles past Wilsonia and Grant Grove, the trailhead acess road is on the left.

Overall, Lakes Trail / Pear Lake Trail is the 50th most popular hiking trail of all 88 hikes in California. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Lakes Trail / Pear Lake Trail including Mount Whitney Trail, High Sierra Trail and New Army Pass Trail.
