Northwest of Tawas City in the Huron-Manistee National Forest, the Corsair Ski Trails are nestled in the beautiful Silver Valley area, surrounded by the 120,000 acre Huron National Forest. The Corsair system is 56 kilometers of interconnecting trails across forest and meadows, hills and valleys. They take you through sunny open vistas, into hushed stands of sweet-smelling fir and towering hardwoods, and along the edge of winding streams.

To reach the hiking trailhead from East Tawas, head west on SR55 to Wilber Road. Follow Wilber Road to Monument Road. Turn left on Monument Road for 7 miles. There are three parking areas. First, there is the Corsair Picnic Area on the west side of Monument Road. Second, there is the Wrights Lake lot on Tuttle Road. Third, there is the Silver Valley Lot on the east side of Monument Road.

Overall, Corsair Trails is the 9th most popular hiking trail of all 32 hikes in Michigan. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Corsair Trails including Manistee River Trail, Hungerford Trail, North Country Trail - Marilla To Dilling, North Country Trail - Freesoil To Bowman Lake and Highbanks Trail.
