The 3,300 acre Sugarloaf Mountain Preserve has a scenic 7.5 mile loop through mountian laurel and diverse forests to the 1,282 summit.

To reach the hiking trailhead from US270, use exit 22 onto SR109. After 3 miles, turn right on SR95 (aka Comus Road) to the Sugarloaf Mountain Preserve entrance.

Overall, Sugarloaf Mountain Preserve is the 16th most popular hiking trail of all 20 hikes in Maryland. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Sugarloaf Mountain Preserve including Meadow Mountain Trail System, Monroe Run Trail System, Negro Mountain Trail System, Mt Aetna Tract and Margraff Plantation Trail.
