Hiking The Lone Mountain State Forest

West of Knoxville and north of Harriman, the 3,600 acre Lone Mountain State Forest has miles of trails open to mountain biking, hiking and horseback riders.

To reach the trailhead from Oliver Springs, head west on SR61. Turn north on US27 for 7 miles. Turn west on Clayton Howard Road to the Forest HQ.

Overall, Lone Mountain State Forest is the 12th most popular hiking trail of all 24 hikes in Tennessee. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Lone Mountain State Forest including Norris Watershed, Panther Creek State Park and Concord Park.
