Hiking The Toiyabe Crest Trail

North of Tonopah and south of Austin, the Toiyabe Crest National Recreation Trail is a 75 mile hiking trek rolling along crests with vistas over classic Nevada basin and range country. The Toiyabe Crest Trail cannot be accessed directly. The northern terminus is off the Kingston Trail at 7,500. The southern terminus is off the South Twin River Trail at 6,100 .
To reach the northern terminus (Kingston Trail) from Austin, head east on US50 and then south on SR376. At about 27 miles from Austin, turn west on Kingston Creek Road (dirt) for 8 miles. Park at the head of the reservoir at the trailhead.
Overall, Toiyabe Crest Trail is the 10th most popular hiking trail of all 20 hikes in Nevada. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Toiyabe Crest Trail including Scenic Loop Trails, Spring Mountain Divide Trail, Twin River Canyon Loop, Bristlecone Pine Trail, White Domes, Charleston Peak and Boundary Peak Trail.
