Southeast of Austin, the 3,500 acre Bastrop State Park has 12.5 miles of trails. One of the more scenic trails is the 8 mile Lost Pines Hiking Trail which passes large lobolly trees and giant pines.

To reach Bastrop State Park from Austin, head east on SR71 to Bastrop. Past Bastrop, turn left heading north on SR150 into the park.

Overall, Lost Pines Hiking Trail is the 25th most popular hiking trail of all 32 hikes in Texas. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Lost Pines Hiking Trail including Forest Ridge, Pedernales Falls State Park and McKinney Roughs Nature Park.
