South of Moulton in the Bankhead National Forest, the 25,000 acre Sipsey Wilderness Area has miles of hiking trails. There are six trailheads.

To reach the best trailhead from Moulton, head south on SR33. At the top of the hill, continue another 5 to 6 miles. Turn right on FS208 for 7 to 8 miles until you see a gate blocking an old forest road.

Overall, Sipsey Wilderness Area is the 4th most popular hiking trail of all 15 hikes in Alabama.
