North of NYC near Bear Mountain, the 46,600 acre Harriman State Park has 43 marked and unmarked hiking trails for over 200 miles in the Ramapo Mountains. Watch out for the many abandoned iron mines. Check out the 20 mile Rampo-Dunderberg Trail over highlands and past craggy hollows. Its mid-point hiking trailhead is located east of Southfields on SR210.

The Harriman State Park is located about 35 miles north of NYC off the Palisades Parkway in Rockland and Orange Counties.

Overall, Rampo-Dunderberg Trail is the 10th most popular hiking trail of all 49 hikes in New York.
