East of Huntsville, the 2,140 acre Monte Sano State Park has a 5 trails totaling 8 miles. The longest trail is the Mountain Mist Trail.

To reach the hiking trailhead from Huntsville, head east on US431 to Monte Sano Blvd. Head north on Monte Sano Blvd. Turn right heading east on Nolen Ave. into the park.

Overall, Monte Sano State Park is the 4th most popular hiking trail of all 15 hikes in Alabama. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Monte Sano State Park including Desoto State Park, Lake Guntersville State Park and Bucks Pocket State Park.
