Hiking The Connetquot River State Park Preserve

East of Islip on Long Island, the 3,400 acre Connetquot River State Park Preserve has 50 miles of trails open to hiking, horseback riding and cross country skiing. A permit is required to access the preserve.

The main trailhead is located east of East Islip on SR27 (Sunrise Highway) at the SR27A turnoff.

Overall, Connetquot River State Park Preserve is the 30th most popular hiking trail of all 49 hikes in New York. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Connetquot River State Park Preserve including Long Island Greenbelt Trail, Pine Barrens Trail, Walt Whitman Trail, Bethpage State Park, Montauk State Park Trails and Nassau-Suffolk Trail.
