East of Trenton and north of Toms River in Monmouth County, the Hartshorne Woods County Park has 11 miles of trails shared by hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders.

To reach the trailhead from the Garden State Parkway to exit 109. Southbound: turn left onto Rt. 520. Take jughandle for Half Mile Road; Northbound, go straight at exit. Follow Half Mile Rd. to the end. Turn Right at traffic light onto East Front St. Follow East Front St. to Hubbard Ave. Turn left onto Hubbard Ave. and follow (.6 mile) to Navesink River Rd. Turn right onto Navesink River Rd. and continue 4.7 miles. Turn right onto Locust Rd. Cross Clay Pit Creek bridge to five way intersection. Bear right onto Bavesink Ave. and continue to Park on right.

Overall, Hartshorne Woods Park is the 26th most popular hiking trail of all 29 hikes in New Jersey.
