Hiking The Lake City

Southwest of Gunnison, the Lake City has miles of trails surrounding this old mining community. The trails are on a combination of National Forest and BLM lands.

To reach the hiking trailhead from Gunnison, head west on US50 for 9 miles. Turn south on SR149 for 45 miles to Lake City.

Overall, Lake City is the 33rd most popular hiking trail of all 72 hikes in Colorado. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Lake City including Florida National Scenic Trail and Stephan Foster State Park.
