Near South Morehead in the Cave Run area, the Buckskin Trail (#113) is 10 mile hiking route following the shoreline and connecting the Sheltowee Trace Trail to trails in the Pioneer Weapons Management Area (PWMA). The hiking trailhead is near the Zilpo Campground.

Overall, Buckskin Trail is the 8th most popular hiking trail of all 9 hikes in Kentucky. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Buckskin Trail including Cumberland Gap National Park, Indian/Spaas Creek Trail, Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail and Redbird Crest Trail.
