Near Gadsden, the 22,200 acre Congaree Swamp National Park has 25 miles of hiking trails through old growth bottomland hardwoods and swampland.

The River Trail is a 10 mile route from the trailhead to the Congaree River. Keep an eye out for river otters.

The Kingsnake Trail is an 11 mile route through endless cypress tupelo slough and virgin cherrybark oaks.

Overall, Congaree Swamp National Park is the 13th most popular hiking trail of all 16 hikes in South Carolina.
