Northwest of Denver and Golden, the 12,000 acre Golden Gate Canyon State Park has 25 miles of hiking trails through dense forest and aspen-filled meadows.

To reach the state park from Golden, head north on SR93 for 1 mile to Golden Gate Canyon Road. Turn left and continue for 13 miles to the park. Use the Nott Creek Trailhead parking area.

Overall, Golden Gate Canyon State Park is the 38th most popular hiking trail of all 72 hikes in Colorado. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Golden Gate Canyon State Park including Dawn Mountain Trail, Quartz Lake Trail, Valenciennes Canyon, Mummy Glacier, Yoho National Park and Mt. MacPherson.
