Hiking The White Sand Creek Trail

The 5th most popular hiking trail in Idaho.

Southwest of Missoula and Lolo Pass in the Clearwater National Forest, the 25 mile White Sand Creek Trail is a scenic hiking route along the White Sand Creek. It climbs from 3,400 feet up to 7,000 feet at Packbox Pass.

To reach the White Sand Creek Trail trailhead from Missoula, head south on US93 to Lolo. Turn right heading west on US12 for about 43 miles to FS102. Turn left heading south on FS102 for about 2 miles to the trailhead near NFS White Sand Campground.

Overall, White Sand Creek Trail is the 5th most popular hiking trail of all 19 hikes in Idaho.
