Hiking The Crane Mountain Trail
The 13th most popular hiking trail in Oregon.

Southeast of Lakeview in the Fremont-Winema National Forest, the Crane Mountain Trail is an 8 mile hiking route open to hikers, mountain biking and ATV riding. The route offers nice vistas from the summit of the rugged Granite Mountain (8,357 feet). There are wildflowers in July.
It is located 10 miles south of Lakeview off US395.
To reach the Crane Mountain Trailhead from Lakeview Ranger Station, proceed 2½ miles north on Highway 395, and turn right on Highway 140. Take Highway 140 east for 8 miles, then turn right on Forest Road 3615. Go ½ mile and turn right on old highway 140. Continue west for 1.4 miles then turn left onto Forest Road 3915. Go on Forest Road 3915 for 9 miles and turn right on Forest Road 4011. Go on Forest Road 4011 for 2½ miles. Turn left onto the 012 road and go for about ¼ mile to the parking area. The 4011 road, past the turn off to the trailhead, goes to the top of Crane Mountain. If you choose to drive to the top of Crane Mt., the road is very rough and steep, a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.
Note: the trail North of Crane Mountain Peak is NON-MOTORIZED.
