East of Marietta in the Wayne National Forest, the Kinderhook Horse Trail is a 16 mile hiking route open to hikers, mountain biking and horseback riding. The trail winds through steep hills through forest and open fields. The route is blazed with gray diamonds.

To reach the trailhead from Marietta, head east on SR7 through Newport to CR244. Turn left on CR244 heading west and look for trailhead signs. If you reach CR25, you’ve gone too far.

Overall, Kinderhook Horse Trail is the 24th most popular hiking trail of all 26 hikes in Ohio. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Kinderhook Horse Trail including Bluegrass Trail, Vesuvius Lakeshore Trail, Stone Church Horse Trail and Wildcat Hollow.
