In the DeSoto National Forest, the Tuxachanie Hiking Trail is a 23 mile route traversing longleaf pine ridges, pitcher plant savannas and cypress swamps.
Parking is available at the SR49 trailhead, Airey Lake and POW Lake.
Overall, Tuxachanie Trail is the 8th most popular hiking trail of all 10 hikes in Mississippi. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Tuxachanie Trail including South Loop Bethel Trail, Black Creek Trail and Longleaf Horse Trail System.
