Hiking The Beaver Trail

East of Harrisburg and west of Shawneetown in the Shawnee National Forest, the Beaver Trail is a 9.4 mile hiking route from Camp Cadiz Campground to the Rim Rock National Recreation Trail.

To reach the Camp Cadiz trailhead, take SR13 west from Shawneetown or east from Harrisburg and go south on State Route #1 for 12 miles. Go west on Cadiz Road for about 2 miles.

Overall, Beaver Trail is the 9th most popular hiking trail of all 17 hikes in Illinois. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Beaver Trail including River-To-River Trail - East, Garden Of The Gods, Kinkaid Lake Trail, Cedar Lake Trails, River-To-River Trail - West and Johnson Creek.
