Hiking The Lakeshore Trail

Southwest of Asheville and northeast of Fontana Village, the Lakeshore Trail is a 25 mile route open to hiking.

To reach the trailhead from Fontana Village go 1 mile east to a left (north) on SSR 1245. Go accross the Fontana Dam. The trail leaves from the right.

Overall, Lakeshore Trail is the 20th most popular hiking trail of all 24 hikes in Tennessee. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Lakeshore Trail including Wolf Ridge Trail, Balsam Mountain Trail, Cooper Road Trail, Deep Creek Trail, Foothills Parkway and Welch Ridge Trail.
