Hiking The Balsam Mountain Trail

The 16th most popular hiking trail in Tennessee.

The Balsam Mountain Trail is a 10 mile route open to hiking and horses.

To reach the hiking trailhead from the Oconaluftee Visitor Center head a little south to a left (east) on Big Cove Rd.(Straight Fork Rd.) Travel about 14 miles and look to the left for Roundbottom Horse Camp. Camp and head to the trail from here.

Overall, Balsam Mountain Trail is the 16th most popular hiking trail of all 24 hikes in Tennessee.
