Hiking The Ute Trail

The 58th most popular hiking trail in Colorado.

West of Yampa, the Ute Trail #1110 is a 6.3 mile route to Heart Lake. This route is shared by hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, dirt bikers and ATVs (up to 44 inches wide).

To reach the trailhead from Yampa, head west on CR7 for 6.4 miles. Continue on FS900 for 3.6 miles to the trailhead.

The route follows a steep, rocky ascent through aspen forest to Heart Lake. Near the top, the forest changes to spruce and fir.

Overall, Ute Trail is the 58th most popular hiking trail of all 72 hikes in Colorado.
