Northeast of Fairbanks in the White Mountains National Recreation Area, the Trail Creek Trail is a 27 mile route. Over several stages, the route climbs almost 1,000 feet. It intersects with the Moose Creek Trail and the O Brien Trail.

The hiking trailhead is located at Milepost 28 of the Elliott Highway (aka Wickersham Creek trailhead).

From the trailhead, the trail runs northeast to Moose Creek Cabin. From the Moose Creek Cabin, the Trail Creek Trail climbs for 1.5 miles to its highest point of 2.387 feet, then follows the ridge line north, paralleling Trail Creek. From this high point the trail gently climbs and descends for the next 9.5 miles to the Crowberry Cabin, which is located at mile 21 of the Trail Creek Trail. The turn-off to Crowberry Cabin is clearly marked with a trail sign and is approximately 100 yards off of the main trail. The trail continues along a forested ridge for three miles until it breaks out of the trees into a large, open meadow and then descends for another three miles towards Beaver Creek. The trail drops steeply for 0.5 miles on to Beaver Creek. Motorized vehicles are not allowed past Beaver Creek.

Overall, Trail Creek Trail is the 53rd most popular hiking trail of all 54 hikes in Alaska. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Trail Creek Trail including Ester Dome Trails, Four Mile Ridge Trail, Upper Fossil Creek Trail, Wickersham Creek Trail, Pinnell Mountain Trail and White Mountains Summit TrailO Brien Creek Trail.
