Near Blowing Rock, the 4,200 acre Julian Price Memorial Park has several trails worth exploriing. The trails run through acres of rolling, forested hills, lakes, streams, and meadows. Elevations within the park range from 3,400 ft to 4,000 feet. There are hiking trails of various lengths, a large campground (129 tent sites and 68 RV sites), rest rooms, and boat rental. The Green Knob Trail (2.3 miles - moderate to strenuous) begins from the Sims Pound Parking Area, milepost 295.9. The Boone Fork Trail (5.5 miles-moderate to strenuous) begins from the Price Park Picnic Area, milepost 296.4. The Price Lake Trail (2.7 miles - easy) begins from the Price Lake Overlook, milepost 296.7. The Tanawha Trail (13.5 miles) branches off from the Boone Fork Trail near the campground, park at the Boone Fork Overlook, milepost 297.1.
To reach the park from Blowing Rock, take Hwy 221 East and get on the Blue Ridge Parkway heading west. Julian Price Memorial Park is located along the Blue Ridge Parkway between mileposts 295.1 and 298, just after Moses H. Cone Memorial Park.
