East of Eagle River, the Hidden Lakes Trail System is a 15 mile loop that connects with the Nicolet North Trail, the Franklin Nature Trail and the Anvil Trail.

The trailhead is located at the eastern end of FS2181 (aka Butternut Lake Road). Start hiking on the Franklin Nature Trail to reach the intersection of the loop.

Overall, Hidden Lakes Trail System is the 17th most popular hiking trail of all 18 hikes in Wisconsin.
