Hiking The Mt Marathon

Near Seward, there is a primative but unmaintained 2 mile one-way trail running up the west side of Mount Marathon. This is a challenging day hike with 3,000 feet of climbing but has a great vista over Resurrection Bay.

Overall, Mt Marathon is the 51st most popular hiking trail of all 54 hikes in Alaska. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Mt Marathon including Devils Pass, Resurrection Pass Trail, Russian Lakes Trail, Primrose/Lost Lake Trail, Winner Creek Trail and Cresent Lake Hiking TrailJohnson Pass Trail.
