Hiking The Sahara Creek / Nicholson Horse Trail System

The 49th most popular hiking trail in Washington.

Southeast of Tacoma and east of Elbe, the Elbe Hills State Forest has a 50 mile hiking trail system known as the Sahara Creek / Nicholson Horse Trail System. This trail system is quite difficult.

To reach the hiking trailhead from Tacoma, head south on SR7 through LaGrande to Elbe. Continue east on SR706 for 6.3 miles to Stoner Road. Turn left to the trailhead parking area.

Overall, Sahara Creek / Nicholson Horse Trail System is the 49th most popular hiking trail of all 56 hikes in Washington.
