Hiking The Horsetooth Mountain Park

West of Fort Collins on the west side of Horsetooth Reservoir, the 2,700 acre Horsetooth Mountain Park has a network of over 29 miles of single and double track trails open to hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.

It is located 4 miles from Fort Collins and 12 miles northwest of Loveland. Elevations vary from 5,430 feet at Horsetooth Reservoir to 7,255 feet at the top of Horsetooth Rock.

To reach the park from Fort Collins, head west on Harmony Road (aka CR 38E). Past Taft Avenue, continue west on CR38E for 6 miles. The park is on the righthand side of the road.

Overall, Horsetooth Mountain Park is the 63rd most popular hiking trail of all 72 hikes in Colorado. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Horsetooth Mountain Park including Flowers Trail, Killpecker Trail, Mount Margaret Trail, North Lone Pine Trail, Roaring Creek Trail and Youngs Gulch #837Crosier Mountain #931.
