The Continental Divide Trail runs from Mexico northward to the Canadian border. A long hiking segment passes through New Mexico. The section in New Mexico can be conveniently divided into 6 sections.

The third section from the south is an 80 mile segment that runs north through the Apache National Forest, passes through the town of Pie Town and continues north on old roads.
