Hiking The Hikers Haute Route

The 10th most popular hiking trail in Switzerland.

From Chamonix to Zermatt, the Hikers Haute Route is a multi-day backcountry route passing glaciers, rugged peaks and beautiful valleys. The route follows a low level traverse along hiking trails, which pass hotels. It is along a network of trails winding around the highest peaks of the Alps that crosses eleven mountain passes. This route is not to be confused with the winter skiing route called the Haute Route glacier trek (aka High Route or Mountaineers Route) which is at high altitude and passes only alpine huts.

Note: Most of the maps of this route are compiled using the Swiss Grid with the CH-1903 map datum. Make sure to set your GPS unit accordingly.

Overall, Hikers Haute Route is the 10th most popular hiking trail of all 15 hikes in Switzerland.
