Hiking The Slippery Rock Gorge Trail

Northwest of Pittsburgh near Portersville, the McConnells Mill State Park has 11 miles of hiking trails. The main Slippery Rock Gorge Trail is a 6.2 mile section of the North Country National Scenic Trail. It runs from Eckert Bridge, off Breakneck Bridge Road, to the Hells Hollow parking area off Shaffer Road east of SR65.

In addition, there is the 1.5 mile Alpha Pass trail and the 2 mile Kildoo loop.

The McConnells Mill State Park is located about 40 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, via US79, near the intersection of SR19 and US422.

Overall, Slippery Rock Gorge Trail is the 29th most popular hiking trail of all 32 hikes in Pennsylvania.
