Hiking The Nickerson State Park

East of Brewster and west of Orleans, the 1,900 acre Nickerson State Park has a variety of hiking and mountain biking trails. For hiking, there is the 1 mile loop around Flax Pond, the 1 mile loop around Little Cliff Pond, the 3 mile loop around Cliff Pond and access to the Namskaket Sea Path along Cape Cod Bay.

To reach the trailhead from US 6, use Exit 12. Head west on US6A for a couple miles. The state park entrance is on the left or south side of the road.

Overall, Nickerson State Park is the 36th most popular hiking trail of all 36 hikes in Massachusetts. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Nickerson State Park including Great Island Trail, Cape Cod Trail, Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and West Barnstable Conservation Area.
