Near Rosalie, the Chemin Letang (Lake Road) is a cross-island trail from Rosalie on the east coast to Freshwater Lake. The dirt road rises at first gently through the small village of Grand Fond past fruit trees to a river crossing. It then becomes a narrow track switch-backing steeply across the rainforest covered mountainside – an arduous climb for those heavily laden Caribs with Freshwater Lake a welcome sight at the top.

Overall, Chemin Letang is the 5th most popular hiking trail of all 7 hikes in Dominica.
