Southwest of Long Beach, the new Trans-Catalina Trail is a 27.5 mile route cutting across the island from Avalon to remote Parsons Landing.

Note: A free camping and hiking permit is required.

Overall, Trans-Catalina Trail is the 88th most popular hiking trail of all 88 hikes in California. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Trans-Catalina Trail including Strawberry Creek Trail, Strawberry Peak Loop Trail, Lost Palm Oasis Trail, Skyline Trail and Chino Hills State Park.
