Southeast of Queenstown and east of Alexandra, the Otago Central Rail Trail is a 150km route along the old Otago Central railway line. The route leads from Middlemarch to Clyde while passing through 18 towns. The Otago Central Rail Trail is open to hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.

Overall, Otago Rail Trail is the 9th most popular hiking trail of all 15 hikes in New Zealand.
