Southwest of San Jose and Saratoga, the Castle Rock State Park has 32 miles of trails rolling through redwood and douglas fir forests. These trails are part of an even more extensive trail system that links the Santa Clara and San Lorenzo valleys with Castle Rock State Park, Big Basin Redwoods State Park, and the Pacific Coast.

The Castle Rock State Park is located on SR35, just 2.5 miles southeast of the junction with SR9.

Overall, Castle Rock State Park is the 83rd most popular hiking trail of all 88 hikes in California. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Castle Rock State Park including Middle Ridge Loop Trail, Yahi Trail, Henry Coe State Park and Bidwell Park.
