Barranco Ferrer is shrouded within the Alpujarran foothills of Granada, just 7km from the Mediterranean coast. The hiking trails leave from Barranco Ferrer on old mule tracks through pine and cork forests crossing streams and river beds. The nearby Veleta Peak (3,470 m) is a particular challenge.
Overall, Barranco Ferrer Trails is the 6th most popular hiking trail of all 21 hikes in Spain. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Barranco Ferrer Trails including Parque Natural De Cabo De Gata-Nijar and Las Alpujarras.
