Hiking The Hilltop Trails

The 4th most popular hiking trail in Alaska.

East of Anchorage, the 5,000 acre Far North Bicentennial Park has over 15 miles of multi-use trails, including those created for cross-country skiing at the Hilltop Ski Area. Watch out for moose on these trails.

To reach the hiking trailhead from SR1 (Seward Highway), exit at E. Dimond Blvd. Head east on E. Dimond Blvd. to Hartzell Road. Turn right heading south on Hartzell Road and veer left onto Abbott Road. Follow Abbott Road east to the Hilltop Ski Area parking lot (before the road turns sharply right). The trail system starts from the ski area and runs to the north.

Overall, Hilltop Trails is the 4th most popular hiking trail of all 54 hikes in Alaska.
