Surrounding and within the Point Reyes National Seashore are miles of hiking trails adjoining Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Marin County. The Estero Trail is a six mile out and back route leading to Sunset Beach and Drakes Head Trails.

Overall, Estero Trail is the 27th most popular hiking trail of all 88 hikes in California. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Estero Trail including Dipsea Trail and Mount Tamalpais State Park.
