Located in the Santa Monica Mountains west of LA, the 15,000 acre Point Mugu State Park has over 35 miles of hiking trails. The PMSP is located about 30 miles west of LA. The trail begins at the north end of the Big Sycamore Canyon Campground in Point Mugu State Park. The parks entrance is off the Pacific Coast Highway (SR 1), 32 miles west of Santa Monica and 12 miles east of Oxnard.

Overall, Point Mugu State Park is the 4th most popular hiking trail of all 88 hikes in California. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Point Mugu State Park including Malibu Creek State Park and Topanga State Park.
