West of Alexandria in the Kisatchie National Forest, the Kincaid Lakeshore Trail is considered to be the most scenic and difficult hiking trail in the KNF. It winds for 10 miles along the eastern shore of Kincaid Lake through oak, hikory and beech forests.

To reach the trailhead from Alexandria, head west on SR28 for 10 miles. Turn left heading south on Messina Road for 2 miles. Turn right heading west on East Boat Landing Road. The primary trailhead is located at the eastern boat ramp.

Overall, Lakeshore Trail is the 2nd most popular hiking trail of all 6 hikes in Louisiana.
