Located in northcentral Maine near Millinocket, the 200,000 acre Baxter State Park is a rugged and remote section of Maine. While attacking the Pogy Notch Trail (23 mi.) or the Wassataquoich Lake Trail, keep a keen eye out for moose and black bear.

To reach the hiking trailhead, follow US95 north to Exit 58. Continue north on SR11 into Patten. Turn left on SR159 heading west into the park.

Overall, Baxter State Park is the 3rd most popular hiking trail of all 10 hikes in Maine.
