North of Camden, the 5,550 acre Camden State Park has 30 miles of hiking trails. There are 5 major trailheads.

From Portland, follow US95 north to US1 east. Once past Camden look for a sign on the left for the HQ (2 miles north of Camden on US1).

Make sure to check out the signature location which is the scenic vista high atop Mt. Battie where sweeping views of Camden, Penobscot Bay, and surrounding islands await. On a clear day, visitors can see Cadillac Mountain at Acadia National Park. Mt. Megunticook, the highest of the Camden Hills - and highest peak on the mainland - is a moderate climb by foot trail.

Overall, North Side is the 4th most popular hiking trail of all 10 hikes in Maine.
