Hiking The Sawmill-Curry Trail System

The 3rd most popular hiking trail in Montana.

North of Missoula in the Lolo National Forest, the Sawmill Curry Trail System for hiking is within the 61,000 acre Rattlesnake National Recreation Area and runs the arid praire hills. The 12+ miles of blazed hiking routes started as livestock trails and logging skids. The main route is the Stuart Peak Trail (#24).

To reach the Sawmill-Curry Trail System trailhead from Missoula at Exit 104 of US90, follow Van Buren Street north for 4 miles. Proceed on Rattlesnake Drive to Sawmill Gulch. Turn left and park in main area.

Overall, Sawmill-Curry Trail System is the 3rd most popular hiking trail of all 19 hikes in Montana.
