North of Newark and east of Vernon in Sussex County, the Wawayanda State Park has 40 miles of hiking trails including a 20 mile section of the Appalachian Trail. The rolling routes offer nice views of mountains and valleys.

The main park entrance is off Warwick Turnpike (aka Moe Road), which is south of Warwick, New York, off SR94.

Overall, Wawayanda State Park is the 5th most popular hiking trail of all 29 hikes in New Jersey.
