Hiking The Coosa Backcountry Trail

The 3rd most popular hiking trail in Georgia.

Near Blairsville in the Cattachoochee National Forest, the yellow-blazed Coosa Backcountry Trail is a 13 mile hiking trek through rugged terrain with great vistas.

The trailhead is located in Vogel State Park about 10 miles south of Blairsville on SR129.

Follow the green blazes from the Visitors Center to reach the trailhead, marked by a sign. The Coosa and Bear Hair share the same footpath briefly. At the road the Coosa goes right and straight.

Overall, Coosa Backcountry Trail is the 3rd most popular hiking trail of all 22 hikes in Georgia. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Coosa Backcountry Trail including Panther Creek Trail, Jacks River Trail, Carters Lake Recreation Area, Mountaintown Creek, Bull Mountain Trail and Fort Mountain State ParkNorth Pocket.
