Close to Barrie, the Hardwood Hills have become a mecca with 42 km of horseback riding trails. The tracks are divided into three networks based on difficulty and there is a user fee. Keep in mind that these trails are shared with numerous mountain bikers.

To reach the trailhead, follow Route 400 north to exit 111. Head east on Doran Road through Edgar. Continue east another 5 km and the entrance is on the left side of the road.

Overall, Hardwood Hills is the 2nd most popular horse trail of all 6 horseback rides in Ontario.
